Pore Perfection
Starts With Us!

    The Problem

Open pores are a common skin concern that many people experience, especially those with oily skin. They are caused by an excess of oil and dead skin cells clogging the pores, making them appear larger and more visible. A general practice to minimize the appearance of open pores is to keep your skin clean and using non-comedogenic skincare products to start with. Nonetheless, open pores can be a real pain that are difficult to get rid of and can make your skin look dull, and uneven.

Open pores are a common skin concern and are completely normal. While it’s not possible to completely get rid of open pores, following a good skincare routine can help to minimize their appearance.
Open pores can be caused by a variety of factors:

    • Genetics – Unfortunately, some people are just more prone to open pores than others, and it can be passed down through family genes.
    • Oily skin – If you have oily skin, you may be more prone to open pores because excess oil can clog them and make them appear larger.
    • Ageing – As we age, our skin loses elasticity, and our pores can appear larger. This is especially true for women after menopause.
    • Sun damage – Exposure to the sun can damage the skin and cause it to produce more oil, leading to open pores.
    • Hormones – Hormonal changes, such as during puberty or pregnancy, can cause an increase in oil production and lead to open pores.
    • Skincare products – Using products that are too harsh or not suitable for your skin type can cause irritation and lead to open pores.

By understanding the causes and taking good care of your skin, you can help minimize the appearance of open pores and maintain healthy, beautiful skin.

    • O-shaped pores – O-shaped pores are typically round and are more likely to appear on the T-zone of those with oily skin or acne-prone skin.
    • U-shaped pores – U-shaped pores are common among individuals with dry, dehydrated skin. Proper moisturization can help manage them to some extent.
    • Y-shaped pores – Y-shaped pores are shaped like a water droplet and are typically found on the cheeks. They may occur due to reduced collagen production, which can happen as a result of ageing.

    The Solution - Open Pores

A combination of good skincare habits such as using a daily cleanser, exfoliating regularly, and applying a daily moisturizer with SPF can help reduce the appearance of open pores. In some cases, changes in diet and lifestyle, such as avoiding excessive sun exposure and maintaining a healthy, balanced diet, may also help.
